Both my hatches are rock solid, no leaks.
Except when I had one of those bad hair days in packing my gear a few days into my Winnipeg River trip, you know the kind I mean, you've packed your gear easily into your boat for 3 days or so and on the morning of the the next day it like..."Hey where the heck did all this stuff come from?" One of my drybags was placed in a way that left my front hatch open just a hair. With waves breaking over the deck, I was in for a surprise when we stopped to make soup and sandwhiches a few hours later, I had taken on about a litre of water...aren't drybags a beautiful thing? Other than that I haven't taken on any water in even the roughest conditions.
If you do decide to go that route let me know, I used some commmon plumbing items to make brass bushings for the closure systems. Low cost, highly effective. I'll give you details if you like when the time comes.
