Are you implying that mineral spirits cause a problem with later adhesion
of epoxy if used on bare wood ? I have often used white spirit to wipe
down the wood surface before epoxying, to be sure that I have removed any
finger-type grease from the surface, as I'm sure that would have an
adverse effect. I've also used meths (the non-drinkable version of
ethanol) to wipe over purpleheart before epoxy sealing - seems to have
stuck pretty well ...
