Thanks but we're fine. The Miramar fire, the western arm of the Ramona "Cedar" fire burned to about a mile of my home here in San Diego, the same to Dave's house where we were today building his SG NIght Heron. It got about 2 miles from Paul Jacob's (of the KBBB) who lives about 2 miles from me. This may sound gruesome, but the fire wouldn't get much further then the first block of homes, and couldn't go beyond that to the next canyon which we live on the edge of. Kinda funny that everyone who humored me when I get on my soapbox about maintaing a fire break (we're on the side of a overgrown and steep canyon) now sees why the lower backyard is carefully growing only oranges, a peach and a lime tree and is 57 feet of nothing but dirt.

We're thinking about going home to Dana and letting a family stay in the house. There's been many homes toasted today-by no means anywhere close to hell that British Columbia experienced in the over 1000 big fires up there this summer. I tell you, my hat's off to the poor folks in BC who lost so much.

: I just had a look at some of the photos of the California fires on MSN News.
: I hope Mike and his kayak-building buddies are all OK. Actually, I hope
: everyone in California is OK.
