Gosh, Malcolm!
It looks like I've really done it. I've infected everyone with my, "off the wall humor that nobody gets" virus.
The Pee Man is the alter ego of a silent lurker (or maybe one of our naughtier regular members) who posted some loony crap about removing adhesive with his stream. I responded to the posting on two levels.
The first was that I had, hopefully, grown out of the teenage toilet humor period and that his material was stale. I indicated as much with the commentary from my 13 yr. old son.
The second response was that his posting was a classic, jumping-off stimulus for a comedy bit. My post was a feeble attempt at comedy from my particular brand of brain waves. I have a bent fascination about Lee and Les Keino, the old furniture experts on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow, and tried to twist them into my bit. Apparently that effort was also over the top.
I have a few dreams where one of my boats has ended up in the hands of some antique dealer way off in the future and I overhear them going on and on about how the primary woods have such a fine patina of age while the secondary woods are showing distinct signs of habitual wear. Nevertheless, comedy is hard work and I should have polished the bit some more before turning it out on the public.
Unfortunately, I don't build guitars. Wish I did, though. I marvel at a guy like Kozel who does do such fine work with his boats and instruments. My profession is architectural photography which I've done for 25 years. There's very little humor in it and my artistic, goofy side screams for some recognition.
Actually, I bet my wife that someone on the Forum would wonder what I was smoking when I wrote the Pee Man bit. She is now going to laugh her butt off over your letter. She read the original letter and, probably, because she has known my humor for so long, found my writing funny. Then again, she was most likely just making me feel like a genius. I'm a lucky man that way.
I'd like to hear more about your guitar jones when you get the chance, though. I love the blues and have it on my CD player at my shop as much as possible. I especially like old Hooker, Broonzy and Dixon. Newer dudes such as Paul Butterfield, Clapton and
Your observation about being leveraged by friends with newly potty trained babies was sharp stuff. Now THAT should be written into a great bit.
