You might ask your local lumber yard or small local hardware/lumber store where they get their lumber from. I got my very straight, completely clear WRC from a nearby wholesale lumber yard that only sells to hardware stores, etc. You have to work out a deal with the local store to purchase the lumber that they would not normally carry. I live in the Carolinas and am lucky enough to not only have such a wholesaler in the area, but they even let me come down & pick out my own pieces. I just had to buy it through my local lumber yard/store. The local store called & told them I'd be coming & all I had to have is my receipt in hand for the lumber I purchased. I didn't know youcould get such beautiful clear wood in those lengths. I ended up getting 1"x6" 16' boards for my boat. Not ONE knot in the bunch. (definetly wasn't the same cost of pine though)!

Just recently I did the same thing to get a clear 2"x4"x8' of WRC to make a Greenland paddle.
