I'm currently planning to make paddles for myself and my daughter. We haven't purhcased or built her a boat yet, but I'm considering paddle lengths for her. I will probably build both greenland and touring paddles for both of us. I've researched a bit about sizing and come up with a couple of things which I'd like to hear some more experienced opinions about.
Me: 6'1" 165 in a 20" beam, CLC NorthBay. Paddle, probably about 215-220 cm
Daughter: ~4' tall, 55 pounds. Boat beam unknown but max 24" (CLC Ches 14). I'm thinking about making her paddle more like a 175 or so. Is this going to be a reasonable size for her? I want it to be long enough for a boat of the Chesapeake's size but still short enough for her to handle it easily. I am also considering an SOF for her with a substantially smaller beam.
