Got a possible reason for the 6522

I mostly use the following fiberglass cloths, all s-glass, usually in widths of 33 inch-, 36- or 48-inch wide:
6 ox biaxial (plain weave) 6533 s-glass;
3.2 oz biaxial (plain weave)1633 s-glass,
3.2 oz (unknown number-I think it's 120)(4 harness)s-glass; and,
3 oz triaxial (4 harness)2220 s-glass.

I have used
5.7 oz plain weave 3733 s-glass
"4 oz" plain weave 7522 s-glass
6 oz plain weave 7534 s-glass

The 6522 fabric is a 24/22 90/70 warp and fill that is often times in the smaller widths commonly used for surfboards out here on the coast. My glass supplier says that his 6522 is from BGF (and I have a BGF catalog in hand right now) that says there's a silane finish on the glass. The BGF compnay have this "Aerialite" coating to supposedly increase penetration and clarity for graphics. Out here there's quite a few surf-, paddle- and wind-board manufacturers; he sells nearly all of his glass to them. My supplier hasn't heard of any printing issues. He was asking what conditions and epoxy was used. He thinks that the fibers look like the epoxy didn't penetrate properly and that his first thoughts were that the epoxy was too thick for the application, or that the glass and epoxy were cold.

I did a test layup last night of scraps of all my glasses using Polycon 700/22 on mahogany panel and the only one that shows that pattern is the 4-inch wide 6 oz tape (either 28T or 33T). The Polycon 700/22 is a rapid wet-out epoxy made initially for concrete surface penetration but has been commonly used for composite wet-out, particularly in multiple layered applications. That said I seem to recall having the same problem with 2-inch 6 oz glass tape though I'm out of the stuff right now. There was the occasional fiber that refused to wet-out till I screwed with it during wet-out till I said to hell with it, it's an inside seam tape. The outside I did a "trim" (cut long pieces from the glass) versus dealing with the tape edges.

: that's been my experience with 6522, it's wetted out properly. What kind of
: s-glass are you talking about?
