I took images of the process and will send to you. What Dave and I did was pick through the scraps and laid them down on the joint to match the grain and color on both sides. Next, I laid down a 2 inch wide strip of the Scotch blue masking tape on the facing side, used my Starret rule and a fresh one isded razor and repeatedly sliced along the tape edges till I cut through both the good side veneer and mostly through the middle ply (the 4 mm okoume is three-ply). Next I flipped the pices over and did the same treatment with the razor till I scored it deep enough to break the taped piece loose. Next, I sat there and carefully peeled, chipped, scraped, sliced and picked off the "down" side play till the middle ply was exposed, then took a sanding black and 120 grain sand paper and carefully and one -direction sanded the middle ply away, then "razor" edged the desired and taped ply veneer that was to be used. Next, I trimmed the joint with a new razor and rule, then used the razor's edge to scrape the "ramp" from the joint so that the veneer fit the edge (making a line) and then glued it down with CA glue. After pressure by Paul Jacob and I, I peeled the tape carefully off and we sanded the new and proud veneer flat and ready for staining. Word of caution: the CA glue will prevent gel and water based stains from adhering, so need to use the alcohol based types. The epoxy coat isn't affected by the CA glue impregnation into the wood veneer.

: I'd love to see before, during and after photos of your putting okoume veneer
: over the joints. I thought about doing that but didn't and would love to
: see what and how you did it and how it came out. Where did you find the
: veneer or did you make it yourself?
