I agree with this and will attempt to build my future marathon boats in a combination of e-glass and s-glass, with, of course, wood cores...mostly strip built, but some S&G. I consider the standard layup of 6 oz. e-glass inside and out, with some strategic strengthening and wear strips, to be plenty strong for boats not being used in abusive pursuits (since I have been using one in such pursuits...but hopefully not for long). All they guys with kevlar boats don't think they'll hold up, or will be too heavy. We'll see.
