Sorry for the second hand account. Maybe he'll chime in with better detail. Pete Roszyk was telling me he had been playing around with vacuum bagging. He said he'd gotten some layups that didn't wetout all the way clear. He indicated you'd want to come up with an optimum PSI and then keep the gauges under that. I imagine it is safer on opaque layups. I want to try it just because I'm tired of dealing with bubbles and fabric that won't lie flat.
GNiessen, West has a pretty good pamphlet on it. There is generally a dacron peelply layer over the glass and then a breather layer on top of that. Hand layups can be very efficient with practice. Bagging looks fun though and I hope to try it at some point.
