Hi Roland -

The seat itself is 16-1/2" wide and 14" deep (or long). It does have a slope to it. There is a front plate at the front of the seat that is just under 3" high, so the seat has a slope to it of about 3" over a distance of 10" where the bottom of the seat would contact the bottom of the boat. You should know the bottom edge of the front plate is shaped to fit the bottom of the boat so if you're installing it in something other than a Waters Dancing boat, you'll need to reshape this plate to fit the bottom of your boat. This plate is 19-3/4" wide at it's widest point but that could be trimmed to fit into your cockpit. I've seen this seat with and without added foam padding. I intend to try it out first without padding to see if I like it with the option of adding padding later. Rob's padding went flat on him because he was in his boat for 12+ hours a day for 10 days or so. He's nuts.

Good luck.
Paul

: Thanks Paul, glad to hear the contoured seat is comfortable. Robert C Pruden
: had only one complain on his long journey about this seat and that was the
: foam went flat on it. So yes, if you could measure the width for me that
: would be great. Also, is the seat installed flat or slightly higher in the
: front? I build my CLC, narrow hull 5 % smaller then the blueprints and the
: seat needs to be mounted low for stability. So I’m trying to figure out if
: it would fit. I already contacted Waters Dancing for prize and it’s very
: reasonable. An additional nice future on their kayak is the stained upper
: shear panel.
