: The strongback is what broke, not the kayak.

Hi Chuck, I have never used an internal strongback but from photos on most sites the hull and deck are kept on the strongback/forms during the glassing process. It surely helps to keep the proper shape and avoid any distortion.

Maybe some internal strongback users will throw in their 2 cents.
