Ed,
All of the surf 'yaks (called surf skis) that I'm aware of are very long and very thin. You may be plugged into some new fad that hasn't hit the commercial world yet.
Also, you can't say "strip-built" and "hard chine" in the same breath. For most of us that's the one shape that strip construction can't accomplish.
I may be a little behind the times but that was the case in the past.
