I used System three LPU on the two boats I have built. But I have never used varnish or any other top coat. I went with LPU after reading several post on it. Most agree that it is tougher than varnish and easier to apply than a two part. And I believe it will last longer than varnish. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
The two part polyurethanes sound like they might be even tougher than the LPU. But the water based LPU up is nice to work with.
I don’t think I answered your question but hopefully some other builder with more experience will add to the mix.
