: Hi Mike. You get these syringes at an agricultural supply? What do I ask for?
: Do you make an incision over the bubble first of just stick the needle
: through the epoxy? I know you're in BC, anyone able to get these in the
: States? I already have the plastic syringes from Woodcraft, Raka, etc. but
: I would like to try the metal needle.

i have a whole bunch of syringes picked up at various places because i never knew which was the best place to pick them up and i thought they were hard to find. the first few was from a plastics store then an agrisupply store and got 60ml(2oz) syringes for abt $3 can. then some unmarked abt 15ml ones but with thin plastic tips from lee valley for abt $2.75(guess), but by far the cheapest was from a medical supply store with 100 #20 stl needles for $7 and nice marked 5ml syringes for $.52 and 10ml syringes for $.56 each - just abt bought them out. real easy and safe to change needles or not use as the outside screw tip is abt 1/2in long anyway.

i got the angle cut(sharp) needles and hone those flat but you can apparently get 'drawing' needles that are already flat across. get those if same price.

for injecting, the flat across is better as you don't need to insert the needle to inject the bubble or whatever, just a prick on the outside(and a hole to let air escape) - or at least you have the choice.

i've also been using them to glue seams in one s&g as you can just place the needle in the joint and drag along while squeezing the appropriate amt of epoxy. and as it comes out semi slowly, when lifting off and putting down(over every stitch), not so much blobbing takes place as with other syringes. but i round off each panel so there is a little ditch betw panels to allow this dragging.

the main problem i have been getting is the viscosity changing too quickly when in warm weather, using fast or mixes of fast hardener and i think because of grabbing the barrel of the syringe with my hot sweaty grubby fat hands. but i just love the metal needles because of their precise delivery.

anyway go to a medical supply place first. your prices will prob be 30cents per syringe, 4cents per needle.
