The shortcomings of polyester don't show their ugly heads until the stuff is put in water. It is a poor relative to epoxy in both strength of bond and ability to keep water away from the wood.
I'm a bit paranoid so I would do it over just so I wouldn't have nagging doubts pop up once I was in the water.
Ya' pays yer money an' ya' takes yer choice.

: hello,
: I recently started my Merganser. I cut all the panels
: but didn't have my epoxy resin yet so I used some polyester
: resin I had in the shop for the but joints (where the front
: and rear panels are joined).
: Well I wish I had had the patience to wait for my epoxy.
: SO......what will happen if I epoxy over the polyester???
: Should I sand away as much as possible,
: or not worry about it????????
: The joints seem strong.
