I'm building Nick's footbrace from the diagrams in his book and have all the pieces cut and ready to put together.

Placing the pieces together I have a 1/4" gap between the slider top/slider bracket and the rail top. It seems to be a lot of play.

Should there be less play or should I just leave it?

I'm not sure this makes any sense, I've got a diagram but am unsure how to post it?
