: The bungies in front of the cockpit should be as close as possible - to make
: it easier to reach whatever you keep there
But not so close that a map under the front bungies can flap about in a head
wind or when steep seas break over the deck. On my Hybrid Cormorant (and
sometimes on my bought North Shore Mistral), an A3 laminated map, especially
when placed portrait, cna get blown off the deck and fold over, making it
hard to read and adding windage. This usually happens when you are having
a hard time against wind/waves anyway, and it is a real pain to have to
use one hand to push it back down :-(
Having a really small Ocean-style cockpit makes this bit of deck rigging
a lot easier as you never have so far to reach forwards.
