Hi Gordon
I've not started on my first kayak either, but I'm also thinking of using staples for the first one. Actually there's a Swedish designer of kayaks and canoes who has an even simpler method of stripping. He uses staples without gluing the strips at first. When all of the hull has been stapled to the stations he applies epoxy with a brush. The epoxy will find it's way in between the strips. This way you can strip the whole kayak without having to wait for the glue to cure.
