My web site shows traditional straps which may be the best way to go only if you are expecting extreme conditions. With cinch cams the straps can be made very tight. I bought the webbing locally so it is 1 inch wide. This makes the straps very obvious. 3/4 inch straps are probably normal. www.pygmyboats.com has the hardware in their hatch kits. You can probably order the hardware separately from them.

If you are more concerned with looks, I'd check out the internal bungie method.
