Roger, thanks cool guy, but it's not my idea. I heard about the idea of coating the bases from a plump ol' fellow at the Rockler store here in San Diego, the inestimable Dale.
The epoxy idea came from my Dad who was over a while back helping in a layup. I had some extra epoxy and he without saying went and rubbed the epoxy on the surfaces. I thought it was a cool idea and watched him while pondering the inevitable questions:
1. why didn't I think of that?
2. that I didn't...was this the first sign of Old-Timer's Disease?
3. what else am I too dumb to realize is around me?
