: In this setup, are you getting any hint of print-through from the infusion
: hose to the surface of the boat or is all that potential taken up by the
: core?
The gel coat core and peel ply seem to prevent print through of the hoses.
:BTW, what are you gys using for core material? Nomex, PVC, what?
We are using Lantor Soric as a core. It seems to absorb the least ammount of resin while letting the resin flow
: If so, will you be working yourself into the filament winding end of
: things soon?
Right now I am not planning on working on the filament braiding machines. Making the huge CF masts/boom/spars is a very cool process but it involves working on a machine that throws out tons of carbon dust. Even with a tevex suit and resperator the guys who do this work itch like hell. In summer it is a sweaty nasty job that I will leave to the young guys. I occaionally help them by sanding a mast, wetting out the braids or moving madrels around.
: What are you guys using to join the hull halves? I've seen a lot of Plexus in these applications as well as Sikaflex.
We have though of plexus but I think we will need a longer working time than the mix we have right now. Right now I use a epoxy, nylon flox, and cabosill mix.
