That sounds beautiful.

Not sure lacewood and silky oak are the same, but the grain pattern would be similar. Silky Oak is Grevillea Robusta, and my understanding was that it was an Australian native - might be wrong about that but it certainly appears in the Australian plant community area at the Brisbane Botanical Gardens.

Good tip on steaming aust red cedar - in hindsight I should have steamed the detail interior trim on my 7.8m strip planked trailable yacht, rather than cutting them from solid - oh well, its done now.

Where are you located? - I would love to have a look at your Shooting Star. I'm in Brisbane.
