: I finally got around to hanging some racks from the ceiling to get my long
: pieces of spare wood off the floor. My stack of scrap Okoume was off the
: floor but next to the back garage door where water seeps in every time it
: rains hard. The wood has a lot of mildew on it. Is there anything you can
: to to get that off or should I just trash it?

: Thanks,

Hey Patsy

If it's not too bad, you can dry it out and when it's dry sand off the discolored areas... Some times it will clean up and sometimes it's too deep, or its a stubborn type of mildew..?? Give it a try...!!

You can always paint whatever you use it for, unless it's attacked the glue or delaminated the layers.... I have about 84 - 3 & 4mm sheets, both 4' x 8' and 3' x 7' mahogany and oak... all with little stains on one edge from water/mildew damage. I use it all the time... At $1.00 a sheet, from a local salvager, I couldn't afford to let them go... :)

When you dry it out, you will know if there's any lamination damage as it will start to seperate, bubble or curl the laminations...

Hope this helps..
