: What do you do if you are stripping a hull with bead and cove but need to
: fill in a spot or two with cheater strips?

Be careful and think it out. With cove and bead strips, this gave me fits on my Outer Island. I had always been told to run the strips and fill in the gaps with cheaters later ... big mistake. I had several problems ...

The cheaters needed to be twisted a bit to lay flat at the stems.

The strips bounding the cheater had a little curve to them ... so the cheaters couldn't simply be shaped like wedges with straight sides. The longer the cheater was, the tougher it was to shape correctly.

Because of the slight curvature of the bounding strips ... at the apex of the cheater ... the cove of one bounding strip hid the bead of the other bounding strip from sight ... and left a 4" long 1/8" thick "U" shaped wedge that had to be fitted into an area I couldn't see. Add to it that the hidden area sometines had a little glue squeeze out in the gap that also had to be delt with.

End the end everything came out fine but it was far harder than it needed to be. If I was gonna do this exercise again ... I wouldn't use cove and bead and I'd shape the cheater and glue it on before I laid the next strip on top of it.

Consider what tools you have to use, too
