Re: Material: Mildew on Okoume - worth saving?

patsy, I made my Tred Avon with mildewed wood. I simply turned the mildewed side out and painted the hull. I wasnt successful in getting the mildew off, I tried bleach and oxalic acid ( NOT mixed together ). Neither worked, and it went deeper than I cared to sand it out. SO I painted over it. Its good wood tho, if asthetics are an issue perhaps use it in bulkheads and other internals that dont show?

: I finally got around to hanging some racks from the ceiling to get my long
: pieces of spare wood off the floor. My stack of scrap Okoume was off the
: floor but next to the back garage door where water seeps in every time it
: rains hard. The wood has a lot of mildew on it. Is there anything you can
: to to get that off or should I just trash it?

: Thanks,

: Patsy
