: Thanks, John. You went for a pretty complex design on that stern piece. Did
: you continue the design the entire length of the boat? Do you have photos
: of your progress?
: I like the idea of building a model in the house that later becomes part of
: the boat. Maybe because I like smalller, manageable steps.
: Once I finish the #*! canoe, I may make a practice stern piece out of scrap
: wood to see how it comes together.

Hi Patsy,
I cut over 1500 pieces of the design pattern to run all along the yak, but I chickend out doing this because I thought it might weaken the top edges of the hull so much as to cause lots of trouble when I was mating the hull and deck together. I could see them cracking and splitting.
I build like William Cruz in that I don't always follow the instruction and I do what seems right for me. I fastened the two mini decks at the stern and bow on the hull first, perminately, to make it easy to do my version of an end pour (stuffing the ends with cut glass strans and epoxy and to make a nice strong radius in these very tight area to lay glass in. Then with the yak turned on it's sides I glassed the mini decks underside and did the inside seam taping them to the hull). This makes it easy to see what is going on in these tight little caves. At this time I also glassed the inside of the hull out about 2 feet from the ends.
John
