: Steve,

: I checked the photo again in order to answer your question. As I said my wife
: bought me the BK22 for my birthday and in comparison to the frame pics, I
: see very little that is different from the BK22 and the pics in your
: original post. The Canvasback/KC projects are also very similar in
: building. In all three, these are simply plywood frames with
: fir/pine/cedar (pick one) stringers. For a good photo of the typical
: contstruction of the CC SOF kayak's, check out the "17' Roomy open
: double". It has about the best look at the frame that their site has.
: I am assuming that all other CC SOF kayaks are built in a similar manner
: as my BK22 plans' plywood frames and general construction appear to be
: similar to the 17' roomy open double and the 11' SOF kayak they offer. I
: can confidently say the 11' SOF kayak is similar because someone emailed a
: link to pictures of his finished 'yak built on those plans to the Baidarka
: email list last spring and the finished kayak's lines were unmistakable
: and were obviously a shorter, slightly narrower version of the BK22 which
: appears to be a shorter, slightly narrower version of the 17' roomy open
: double.

: BTW, where did the plans for the kayak pictured come from? They look similar
: to those on WA1URB's webpage. While he does not, techinically, have plans,
: he does offer enough information to build similar kayaks as his on his web
: site.

: Paul

I had not seen the picture of the "17' Roomy Open Double". That does look quite similar.

These plans came from an acquaintance of a friend. When my friend got the plans, the forms were on pieces of cardboard that had been folded up, mangled and were in pretty bad shape. He made a new set of templates out of plywood. The instructions are photocopies of photocopies. In other words, I don't really know where these plans originated.
