: did you put cloth OVER tape? That'll be messy no matter how good you are at
: glassing,,don't worry about little bubbles near the tape.

I put the cloth over the tape. Was wondering whether to do it the opposite way (for smoother layout of the cloth) but then decided that it was more important to get the seams taped as close to the fillet/joint as possible. The interior cloth is an "extra" that the kit instructions do not call for, but since I am building for ruggedness I decided I'd better make myself go through more glassing now rather than after the kayak has been built and used.

: Take a breather every once in awhile,,it's easy to focus too much on each
: detail,,the exterior will be much, much easier.

Darned right! I keep telling myself it's my first build and of course will not look "professional" but the lumps and bubbles still bug me.

: Regarding cutting
: glass next to other areas like the deck to hull wrap over use blue masking
: tape on the hull to lay the wetout cloth onto ,,,then when it cures you'll
: cut the cloth with a razor.

Great idea. Why blue masking tape? Is it thicker? I have been using regular masking tape for some things (should have used it where the bleeping glass edges were!).
