This is good advise:

However, there might be instances where it might not be practicle, say if you are going for a particular pattern and pulling that next full strip down to meet the cheater distorts your "art". I haven't had the confidence to get that fancy, so all my cheater strips were set to fill gaps where this advise was very practicle.
