My kayak building buddy in Germany once mentioned using a staple gun for joining the two halves together. When I built guillemot S&G #1 I spent ages and tortured myself and my fingers wiring the sheer together. As the hull and deck shapes were pretty much set, this was awkward to say the least, particularly around the bow and stern areas that really matter. After I was finished with the wiring chore, the wires held everything nicely in shape while I epoxy filleted between wires, let it set, pulled the wires and got on with the inside seaming job.
For guillemot s&g #2 I wired the easy bits in the vicintity of the cockpit and hatch hole and got fed up with the fiddling and contortions. Then I remembered that Joaquin had mention the staple gun. Well .... blap, blap, blap - problem solved!!
Hard love, but effective .... just an option to beat errant panels into shape and I have forgotten about the 'snake bites' (not particularly noticeable staple holes) a long time ago.
Good luck Pete
