A couple of thoughts:

1) some of our friends here use steam and heat for tough bends.

2) what about running the strips in the direction of least curvature and beveling the edges to make the sharpest bends, i.e., start stripping at top of deck rather than along the sheer.

3) how about stripping as far back as possible, then making a form for a tail cone, make a mold, then lay it up in carbon fiber (or the fabric of your choice).
