Thanks for the reality check Andy! I'm looking to do a stitch-n-glue after having done a stripper. I was wondering if you could easily do the interupted filleting around the stitching as you stated! Sounds lie that's the ticket. A little extra effort, but appears to be well worth it!
: I did fillets in short sections between stitches, so it would be easy to
: remove the stitch wires. The holes got pretty well filled when I filled in
: the gaps in the fillets.
: If you filleted right over the stitches and then pulled the wires out,
: you are going to have holes that are almost impossible to fill anyway.
: I'm sure there will be some bubble trapped, but I'd be very surprised
: if it made any difference to the strength of the boat, and fairly
: surprised if you could even tell that the holes weren't filled. No-one,
: unless they are some sort of utter perfectionist, ever fills staple holes
: in strip boats (and utter perfectionists build staple-less anyway), and
: I certainly can't see any evidence that there is a bubble in any of the
: holes on my boats ...
: Andy
