I have to say in warning that you don't get a smooth fillet this way, and
I had to sand the fillet down before applying glass. You would probably get
a lighter boat by filleting in one go, getting a smooth fillet, and applying
the glass to it while still "wet". But that only really works if you are
just using glass tape on the fillet - if, like me, you are glassing the
whole of the inside of the boat, you probably can't get the glass on before
the fillet has cured anyway.
As always, there are many ways of doing it, none undisputably superior. I
just didn't want bits of copper in my boat and, as it happens, I am pretty
useless at getting smooth fillets without sanding anyway :-)
