Last night I joined 2 narrow, flat sticks long enough that I could reach in and extend the fillet and glass tape to ~1 ft from the ends. I did one side and will turn the kayak over to do the other side this morning.

The business end of the stick is just the right size to apply and smooth down dookie schmutz. I presoaked the tape in a flat dish of epoxy, then draped it lengthwise on the stick. Once I manuevered the stick over the seam, I turned it over like a long pancake and gently dabbed and stroked to get it flat and straight on the dookie. The stick also turned out to be a decent squeegee.

That still leaves a longer untaped area than I want to fill with end pour, but I think I'll do a slanted pour. That means doing 4 end pour sessions instead of 2, but it should allow any cracks to be filled without having a huge block of epoxy in there. Also means I can probably do the end pours indoors instead of outside.

Has anybody done such a slanted pour? Makes sense to me but I haven't heard much about it.
