Why don't you buy a 2'x4' piece of Luan plywood from Home Depot for $3.99. Estimate how much larger the bulkhead has to be compared to the one supplied by Pygmy. Cut some narrow strips of Luan plywood and butt the strips against the edges of the original bulkhead to make it larger. When the glue is dry fiberglass both sides. The fiberglass will lock the strips to the original bulkhead. Then just install the slightly enlarged bulkhead as usual.

This would be the same procedure someone would use if they cut too much from the bulkhead when they were shaping it. They would just patch it.
