I used the tool in the picture to place the interior seam tapes in my Great Auk. It allowed me to get right up into the tips and place the tape where I wanted before releasing. It is just a "bulldog" clip taped to the end of a piece of strip. I wrapped the strip in masking tape so that it wouldn't catch on the tape. I drilled a small hole behind the clip and ran a string back to the end of the strip. I clipped the soaked tape into the clip, slid the end into the bow or stern, then pulled on the tape tight to place it exactly where I wanted it. Once it was where I wanted it, I laid the tape in place, pulled the string, and removed the stick. If you need to squeegee the tape, you can use a paintbrush with most of the handle cut off and taped at an angle on a stick, or a small plastic lid (from yogurt or Pringles)with the lip cut off, stapled to a stick.
