I thought enough of the Sea Spirit to want to build one, plus.. Bobby Curtis is a friend and we paddle together often. Both boats won't weather cock on you and both have stronger tracking. The SS is much lower volume. Both boats are fast and move effortlessly through the water and both have good stability. The OI is 20 7/8 wide and the SS is about the same.
If you live close to Branford CT and want to try both - you're welcome.
Hard Chine vs Soft chine. And strip vs S & G construction.
Both boat roll very easly. Bobby designed the SS with it's very low back deck with that in mind. The OI was also designed with rolling in mind although what was low volume in '95 has been pushed a bit.
You can camp with the OI for a weekend and we often joke about the SS and say " you can carry a peanut butter sandwich but no chunky style".
Build both.
