Seriously, if it's HOT, I like shade! That's a wide-brimmed hat on my head, a PFD to keep the sun off my back, and a real decked kayak. A spongeful of water on the PFD gives a time release cooling effect ... although I rarely needed it. It worked for me on various trips in the tropics.
