: I am building a One Ocean Storm LT and am close to fiberglassing the hull. I
: have 6 oz E cloth, and am trying to decide on just one layer of 6oz or a
: sceond "football" patch over that on the bottom of the hull. My
: 2 Pygmy's only have one layer, but do have a 2" rub strip down the
: keel. Any suggestions, and if it is recommended, how do I do 2 layers?
: Thanks!

I would say it all depends on how much abuse you expect the boat to take. One layer of 6 oz is plenty strong if the boat isn't going to be dropped, encounter rocks, the bottom, the driveway, the freeway, etc. For general handling and dragging over the ground to and from the water, the rub strip should be mandatory. Other than that, it's the old "weight vs. armor" routine. You decide.

Others on this board know a lot more than me about applying two layers. I'll leave that part to them.
