Do most people put the two layers on together on top of a dry hull, or do the first lamination and then come back at a later date and do the football?

: I have built a Guillemot and helped a friend build a Great Auk.
: The Guillemot has 6oz cloth , 6oz football and bow and stearn rub
: strips(6oz).
: The Auk is the same but without the football.
: On a recent trip to The Charlottes we both hit some rocks and scratched the
: hulls.
: The scratches on the Auk were deeper and more noticable but none got thru to
: the wood.
: I sanded both hulls lightly and sqeegied resin into all the scratches, sanded
: and 2 coats of varnish.
: Both boats look great however the Auks scratches are visable and notso on the
: Guillemot.

: My conclusion; Camping boat ---- do the football!

: Day boat, sandy beach-----one layer is fine.

: PS doing the repairs and adding more varnish is as much fun as building the
: boat in the first place!!!
