: On my first hull I sanded a bit to much into the fiberglass and when I
: varnished the hull I could see a lot of the fiberglass weave. It was a
: little more than I could live with. I removed the the varnish and applied
: one more coat of epoxy and was very careful not to sand to deeply into the

Hmm. Maybe there's hope for my "tape line"...we'll see if I can stand to sand the outer layers off...I might just live with it and like you, be more careful on the next one.

Yeah, there's always the next one! And I'm with you on the discomfort of sanding, though I'm not sure about worst favorite when I consider laying up the hull/deck joint on a sea kayak!
