I was more interested in the close-ups than a hi-powered zoom. It's the end of the year - new model coming type thing.. it was only $280.00 + tax, free shipping ( Fed-Ex ) and I read a ton of reviews on several models and didn't find any real bad objections from anyone on this camera.. Plus I have two friends that used the s404 and s414 and really loved them... By most folks I read that it was considered the Top of the Line "consumer" camera. They went for over $500 when they were first introduced ( and what my friends paid for them ) but I got lucky and got it at the right time..

My first digital, so I'm in the book and trying to figure it all out... I've got all the auto-stuff down, and need lots of work with the specialty items. And need a 128 or 256 mb card... Now I can get some good quality pics of my mediocre quality work.. and get them on in record time..
