Hey, folks. As predicted, the "dry dock" is once again dry, de-mucked and mildewed, and re-built. And, so much stuff was ruined by the flood, that I now have PLENTY of room to use for boat building! Anyway, I'm back into the boat building mode.

I'm not there yet, but I'm thinking ahead to the grab loops. I've been trying to make the "tunnels" that pass thru the bow and stern, and am having trouble. I'm trying to hollow out a 3/4" dowel with a 1/2" hole.

After 8 attempts, I have nothing but a list of things that don't work. My trouble is, first, centering the hole. Anybody got plans for a jig that will easily identify the center of a dowel?

Second, I can't get the hole straight. Even if it starts reasonably centered by eye, when it comes out the other end, it's way out of wack. I've been trying to do it free-hand with a drill. It's not working out so good. Any tips?
