You can manage some river hopping. Work it like a New Yorker jumping subway trains. Hit all those backwood streams that no one knows about except the trout , many many portages to be sure. Eventually, connect at the Hudson, then relax and flow with it to NY-NY, where I'll meet you by the Statue of Liberty.

Ill help you repaint the scratches from the 500 portages you did, and then we'll shoot down along the east coast till we hit some obscure cay off Miami.
From there, we use the cay as a jumping off point to kayak in distress alongside a merchant marine vessel. We'll apply electrodes and tell him to take us to the Murray River pronto.

We'll kayak the Canal while the great ship does its thing through the locks.

Then, we direct the big ship along the western coast of South America till we shoot westward to Galopagos. We'll circumnavigate, feed the Iguanas and ride a tortoises.

From there we'll just beeline to the Murray, making Bora Bora a stopover.

This could work.
