I haven't dealt with this person, but her website sounded intersting. She does custom work on commission, so you could probably get your letters to any height you wished.

Laser Doodads advertises short runs and one-shot deals, and gives a nice breakdown of their prices -- which seem fairly reasonable. They can work from a computer file. For a letter of the alphabet you ould probably just pick a font and have them make it to your size. You have got to see what they can do with photos!
