I've seen many pictures of that design, and I like it, too.

Heres a thought. take a photo that you want to reproduce in inlay and use Photoshop to reduce its tonal values to a 5 step or 7 step posterization. Then find wood that matches each of the 5 or seven different shades and use a handfull of printouts as your cutting guides.

Just a thought.
