: Björns english version!

Thanks, I'll look it up! You are so lucky to be bilingual...or probably multi lingual, if you follow the general way of the European Community. Thanks for accomidating me.

: And they had a lot of fun
: building these kayaks.

Yes, and who exactly wouldn't? You said these folks were paddlers first, builders second right? Building the "dream boat" certainly is a wonderful experience...start to finish.

: If the calculator is right 5.80meters would be 19 feets. 55cm equals 21,7
: inches. This metric system doesn´t use fractions, we use decimals instead.

If 55cm = 21.7 inches, then 21.7 inches = 21 7/10. That to me is a fraction.

: It´s much easier to do maths with them! Try it !!

Well my friend, I can't deny the simplicity of dealing with whole numbers, or decimals there of. And I have tried it...Physics and Chemistry courses in college...I think the metric system is more wide spread over here than most people think. However, it hasn't really become mainstream at the local hardware stores, or the local mega hardware stores yet. Besides, if we all went totally metric, you and I wouldn't have anything to joke about now, would we?

: A kilo is the weight of one litre of water at +4degC. 1 litre is one
: cubicdecimeter and there is thousand of them in a cubicmeter.
: Oh no, I forgot you dont use litres as well. And not degC, and not meters.

This one, I don't think you really understand...there's a song... it goes like,"Coming into Los Angeleeese...bringin' in a couple of keys....don't touch my bags if you please, Mr. customs man....Man!

: When I read datas in english I use the fast and not accurate way to
: translate: 1 kilo is 2 lbs or 1lbs is 0,5kilo.

And how much for .5 kilo again?

: 1inch is 2,5cm.

And that's about the size of my little finger.

: 1m is 3+foots

3 ft. is a yard, ten yards equals a first down.

(3meter is 10foot) or 1foot is 30cm.

And a cubit is the length of my forearm plus my fist.

: 23-25kilos would be 46-50lbs.

A pound equals 16 oz, 28 grams to an oz...

: Yes, he was very skilld and learned me some tricks as well. All builders did
: their first kayak. Some of them hadn´t even paddled before!

Well, that explains it!

I´ll print
: this out and present them!

Good, I hope it makes 'em smile!

: You can also make cheekplates from them.

I thought of that, when I considered the curve of the cockpit...

And some other small things.
: Keyrings for example.

Post a pic of that! A key ring? Sounds cool.

: I have built the stands and made covers from blue satin sheets. The
: exhibition opens on wednesday.
: I
: This is not a big public event, it´s most for the staff and students.

So what? Great to hear your exhibit is well under way. Have a good time! Maybe we'll see your smiling face on the cover of the Rolling Stone yet...like Reg's picture in the paper from Seatle.

Be well!!
Bill
