: The sanding disks, I'm not worried about so much...more the velcro grab hooks
: that bothers me...on my Porter Cable 5 inch, the hooks tend to warm up and
: "let go of the paper...I sanded the area of a station on one side of
: the center line once without sand paper on the sander...must have flown
: off when I wasn't looking.
I've had a similar experience with my metabo RO sander. I ended up getting frustrated and ordering a new pad for it. Much better now. I think that heat and epoxy dust is a bit of a nasty environment for velcro style fastening.
: Some people swear by hot glue...I've tried the clear stuff, and it was
: difficult to get off...I ended up taping the hull and glueing on top of
: that to keep the stations in place on my wife's Pygmy boat.
this is a very good sugestion. I will try this next time, the scraper took off most of my hot glue but it would be better if it never even touched the boat.
It is nicest where you have epoxied the parts already.
: Wonky? I think that means wobbly...tipsy...off balance? Loose?
Whoops! by wonky I mean wobbly... bit of slang sneaking in there.
: In your West River with the plastic and alluminium foot braces, do your knees
: hurt from holding an awkward position under deck and the feet pressed on
: the sides of the hull against the foot braces...after longer paddles, I
: always feel like I've twisted my knees.
I understand this problem fully and will probably replace my aluminium and plastic pegs with a Schade style footbrace in the near future when I get sick of them. The WR has a high deck and a wide cockpit which makes this a big problem.
: You bet! And good job on your fastner less boat!

Does the copper stitching that is left in in a couple of difficult spots count as fasteners???
Take care,
Nick.
