: Back in the 70s Folbot offered a do-it-yourself kit for those who wished to
: build their own. This was not a foldable boat, it was built on a wooden
: frame and was covered with a tough skin. I built a 17 1/2 foot boat and
: used it with my kids on camping trips. Took it down the Colorado river on
: a two day camping trip sponsored by Sierra Club. We lived in LA at the
: time, and drove to Northern California once with the boat an top of the
: car, using stretchable tiedowns that were more convenient than the usual
: straps. Disaster! I watched in the mirror as the boat lifted in the air
: and the tiedowns snapped and the boat sailed through the air and landed on
: Interstate 5. I went home and built another and used it for several years.
: Its gone now. I am now 82 and won't have a need for it, altho I'm still
: pretty vigorous.

: But I purchased a sailing kit, including a rudder and all the other
: accessories. I don't think I ever used it, and I have it in its original
: Naugahyde zipper case, still like new. Any interest? It could probably be
: shipped in its case. I can photograph it if you're curious. I'm in Santa
: Cruz now.
:I just recently pulled a wooden folbot out of a dumpster!I have the mast and and outrigger as well.I am interested in restoring it,is there a website or publication,any help much appreciated,I restore VW's,have machine shop,wood frame and canvas appear to be in excellent shape,Thanks
